There are misleading marketing tactics all over the internet and social media that take away from the words “custom” and “handmade”. Let’s be honest. Mass produced parts assembled using one’s hands do not make furniture “handmade”. And having the choice to pick color or accessories, doesn’t make a piece “custom”.
To be clear, there is nothing wrong with mass-production, after all, it’s the reason why so many of the things we enjoy are available at affordable prices.
Custom means there is no match, unique. It means that someone was thinking about you and your family, your first impression when you see the piece completed every step of the process while building and working on it.
Handmade means artistic. Knowing that someone spent their time forethinking about how to make a perfect piece that will make you happy and how much hard work and skills it took to create it evokes a high level of sentiment.
Furniture made-to-order could tell a story that will be a part of your family for generations.
